BID MANAGER 

We’re recruiting on behalf of a values-led, award-winning company in Maidenhead for an influential Bid Manager. You will have experience leading and winning large scale bids and come from an L&D background as well as possess strong networking skills.

Winning new work requires us to develop solutions which inspire and delight clients and are better than our competition.  The purpose of this role is to manage large bids from identification of the opportunity through to qualification and contract award.  This role will work closely with the Director of Group Sales and will have end to end responsibility for the process for developing winning bids.

ACCOUNTABILITY & IMPACT:

  • Identifying upcoming RFPs and tenders which align to the Leadership and team
  • Develop a network of procurement professionals in targeted organisations to provide insight into the procurement process and potential timings.  Nurture key influencing relationships within the tendering organisation
  • Manage a range of opportunities and long-term pipeline of relevant tenders
  • Qualify tenders which are strategically and commercially viable, working with the Proposition Directors and the Group Sales Director
  • Take accountability for the quality of the written proposal, making sure that it is compliant and commercially sound
  • Resolve any complex issues around compliance, IP, cancellation, GDPR and exposure to commercial risk
  • Manage the virtual bid team to tight deadlines. Ensure that there is good governance and clear processes for submission of winning bids to the client’s deadlines
  • Work with agreed partner organisations to ensure that the bid is aligned, and the partner content is well integrated.  Identify commercial issues and work with the Group Sales Director to resolve
  • Track win rate and evaluate bid performance
  • Engage with senior stakeholders within the company, client side and within partner organisations.  Navigate difficult issues and position the company in the best way to win the bid

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Knowledge of tender documentation and processes
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts and potential exposure points
  • Knowledge of proposal development
  • Knowledge of the Learning and Development industry
  • Knowledge of what makes winning bids
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience of leading and winning multi-million-pound bids
  • Good at networking and uncovering commercial insight in the L&D procurement sector
  • Experience of working with Partner organisations
    Experience of handling commercial negotiations
  • Strong commercial acumen, ideally with a consulting background
  • Experience of handling bid processes
